A Tradition of Excellence
The St. Michaels Crab & Steak House has been the unloading site for millions of oysters and crabs distributed from Boston to the Carolinas. The watermen in this area have worked laboriously for hundreds of years…often in inclement weather and untenable conditions…to ensure the supply of Eastern Shore seafood specialties.
The building, which houses the St. Michaels Crab & Steak House, dates back to the 1830’s when it served as one of St. Michaels earliest oyster shucking sheds. Inspect the bar ceiling joists for authenticity. It has been reported that the anchors in the landscaped area of the outdoor patio moored the ships of old that sailed the Chesapeake waters. Feel free to visit our bar and patio and meet the numerous watermen, artists, entertainers, townsfolk and politicians who visit this area.
Here at “The Crab House” all meals are prepared to order. Our staff will serve almost anything that you request, even if not seen on the menu, providing we have the ingredients. We ask your indulgence in giving us the proper time to prepare your meal. If time is of the essence, please ask your server to suggest entrée items that require the least amount of preparation time.
